Michaela Burger is an award winning, critically acclaimed performer, creator and singer (see full bio below). She has obtained a Masters in Musical Theatre, Mountview Academy of Performing Arts, London and a Bachelor of Music classical voice, Adelaide Conservatorium of Music.


With over 30 years in the performing arts industry in addition to 20 years of experience teaching voice and singing, Michaela helps people to reconnect with and find ease and flexibility in their natural voice. From beginners to advanced, singers to speakers, and for anyone who just wants to reconnect with their own voice.

What is the workshop?

Experience what it’s like to speak and sing with your natural voice. Learn how to have more ease, flexibility, stability, strength and confidence in your voice and how to sing and speak from a more open, expressive and comfortable space.


Free Your Natural Voice workshops focus on helping people, through awareness, find the full potential of their natural voice. These workshops, run by singer, performer and voice coach Michaela Burger, include one-on-one personal advice on how to connect with and free your natural voice.


Workshops can cover - but are not limited to - some of the following topics: facing nerves, breath work, making noise confidently, body awareness, connecting the voice to the breath, freedom with sound, spacial awareness, performance technique, story telling through song, expression through words and being comfortable in our skin.


Please note: These workshops focus on the holistic approach to vocal production therefore as well as people interested in singing, they are very suitable for people who are only interested in freeing their spoken voice.

What to bring

Please bring the following:


1. Yoga mat and/or blanket (if it's cold, please bring a blanket)

2. Water bottle

3. 2-3 books of various sizes (these will be used on the floor under your head, so nothing precious : ) )

4. A song or piece of text that you would like to work on or improve

5. Wear comfortable clothes


Who is Michaela Burger?

Michaela Burger is an Australian born actress, singer, creator and vocal coach. She has been nominated for two Helpmann Awards, is the recipient of a Frank Ford award, American Australian Association Scholarship and winner of Best Cabaret Adelaide Fringe and House of Oz Bursary.


Burger has performed with one of Broadway’s most sophisticated writers, Jason Robert Brown, and has shared the stage and screen with Erik Thomson, Caroline O’Connor, Tina Arena, Nancye Hayes, Meow Meow, Paul Capsis, Mitchell Butel, Tyran Park and John Thorn.


Her recent credits include Aftertaste (ABC TV & Closer Productions), Candide (State Opera South Australia & State Theatre South Australia), Twelfth Night (Adelaide Botanic Gardens/Shakespeare South Australia), Apocalypse Meow (Brooklyn Academy Of Music, New York & Malthouse Theatre), Rumpelstiltskin (Southbank Theatre London/Windmill & State Theatre of South Australia), Driftwood (Umbrella Productions/Chapel off Chapel), Simply Brill (Adelaide Cabaret Festival/Amplified Assembly), Can You Hear Colour? (Adelaide Festival & Patch Theatre), Cranky Bear (Patch Theatre), Passion (State Opera Studios).


Other performing credits include, Merry Widow (State Opera of South Australia), Brel-The Immortal Troubadour (Adelaide Cabaret Festival), Rouge (Highwire Entertainment), Otello (State Opera of South Australia), Réquiem (State Opera of South Australia), Marriage of Figaro (Co-opera of South Australia), Tosca (Co-opera of South Australia), Thunderstruck (Warner Brothers) and as the host of Humphrey B Bear (Banksia Productions, Chanel 9).


In addition to winning the 2015 International Cabaret Contest, Burger is the co-writer and star of the world-renowned stage show Exposing Edith, about the life and songs of Edith Piaf and more recently a performer and creative on the team of Simply Brill. Her award-winning show, A Migrant’s Son - which explores Greek migration to Australia - has received critical acclaim and features original music written by Burger. She recently received 5 star reviews for her brand new show, The State of Grace, at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, produced by House of Oz.
